Redwood Shores, California, May 10, 2005 - Gabriel Venture Partners announced today that it made a direct India investment in Tejas Networks, a leader in next-generation SDH/SONET products.
“The support and funding that we have received from top-tier investors and venture capital firms to date not only validates that Indian companies can attract world class capital and compete in a global market, but also puts Tejas in a strong position to build on its growing leadership position in the next-generation optical networking market. We are pleased that Gabriel Venture Partners has joined our existing investors and are excited to be working with Navin Chaddha at Gabriel,” said Sanjay Nayak, Chief Executive Officer of Tejas Networks.
Since its founding in 2000, Tejas has several customers worldwide and the company’s equipment is running successfully in over 25 live carrier networks across the globe. Tejas’ TJ100 family of next-generation optical access products enable customers to build SDH/SONET networks that can effectively service both voice and data applications. Apart from having a large customer base in India, Tejas has forged several international OEM partnerships with major market leaders.
“We are excited to be an investor in Tejas Networks as it is one of the first companies in India that is demonstrating world-class products development, as opposed to many Indian companies that have been traditionally focused on the services and outsourcing industry,” said Navin Chaddha, General Partner, Gabriel Venture Partners. “The quality of Tejas’ solution is evident from the fact that the company’s products are already running successfully in over 25 carrier networks globally today, with business growth continuing to accelerate.”
