Steve Simonian is the Chief Financial Officer & Director of Operations of Gabriel Venture Partners. Prior to joining Gabriel, Steve was Chief Financial Officer at Meritech Capital Partners. In addition to over eleven years of venture capital experience, Steve also brings to Gabriel his operating experience as a CFO of a medical device company as well as a number of years as a CFO consultant to various start-up companies.
Venture Capital
Steve has been in the venture industry for over eleven years. In that time he has been involved in all aspects of a venture capital firm’s operations. Prior to Gabriel Venture Partners, Steve created and implemented the internal and external reporting processes for 14 entities at Meritech Capital Partners. In addition, Steve processed 11 distributions, totaling over $700 million from April 2000 to January 2001. Steve managed the fundraising process for two $1 billion funds and interfaced with LPs at all levels.
Operations
Steve spent over three years as CFO of Image Enhancement Systems (IES), a start-up medical device company. As CFO, he was not only responsible for all of the financial aspects of the company, but also was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the production facility, warehousing and service organization. While at IES, Steve was instrumental in turning the service organization into a profit center for the company.
Consulting
Steve spent over three years as a consultant to a number of venture-backed start-up software and Internet companies in the late 1990s. He initiated and organized the accounting and reporting processes as well as oversaw office operations, including human resources functions. Steve has also been instrumental in helping develop realistic business plans for several startups, which eventually led to successful equity funding from top-tier VCs based on these plans.
